Devon Rex is a relatively young species. Its history originates in 1960 in the good old England. Once, several random passersby noticed unusual cats near an abandoned mine. The animals attracted attention with surprisingly wavy hair.
After several attempts, people managed to catch one of the members of the flock. It turned out to be a young female who quickly became prettier due to home care and soon brought offspring. The kitten, more than others similar to its mother, became the official ancestor of the famous breed under the name “Kirly”.
The outwardly furry natives of Misty Albion sometimes give the impression of slightly clumsy animals. But this feeling is misleading. The shortened body of cats with long legs and a graceful tail is quite harmonious. And the specific structure of the coat gives the breed a touch of snobbery.

Standard
Devon Rex is a medium-sized cat breed with a muscular body. The chest is wide, powerful, slightly rounded in profile. The paws are oval, the limbs are elongated and rather thin. The tail is thin with a slight rounding at the tip. The muzzle is expanded, with a sharp, well-defined contour. Ears are widened at the base, set low.
Large eyes of uniform color are located at a considerable distance from the nose. The fur of cats is short, wavy, soft to the touch. Small bald patches are possible.
